Just Nintendo announced the Switch 2 this morning. It has a larger screen, magnetic Joy-Cons, and can play all your old Switch games thanks to backwards compatibility. It also looks like new Mario Kart is launching alongside the system, and if you want to play it and potentially other games coming to the Switch 2, Nintendo is offering a few ways to do so – if you can make it to one of three cities in the US
The Nintendo Switch 2 experience will be a three-day ticketed event where the public can experience the system up close in Los Angeles, New York City and Dallas. Registration begins tomorrow, January 17th at 12:00 PM PT / 2:00 PM CT / 3:00 PM ET and continues until January 26th at 12:00 PM local time for each city. Once you've registered, you'll have to wait until April as the events themselves will be staggered across all three cities throughout the month. The full schedule is as follows:
new York
April 4th – April 6th
Center415
417 5th Ave
New York, NY 10016
Los Angeles
April 11th – April 13th
TV City
7800 Beverly Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90036
Dallas
April 25th – April 27th
Embarcadero building in Fair Park
1229 Admiral Nimitz Dr.
Dallas, TX 75210
However, registration will not be enough as the official website states that the tickets will be distributed via a randomly selected raffle. So when you register, remember: this is not a race. Nintendo says being one of the first to register doesn't increase your chances, as “everyone who registers has an equal chance of being selected.” You also need a Nintendo Account.
At the moment we have no idea what games might be played at the event other than what it looks like Mario Kart 9but we'll learn more about the system just days before the New York event Nintendo is holding a direct presentation of the system on April 2nd.
