E3 2021 is fast approaching, but the Summer Game Fest has already begun, and world premieres include teasers of what players can expect from this weekend’s event, including more footage from Battlefield 2042.
EA won’t be at E3 in a big way like it has been in the past, but that won’t stop some of its games from showing off over the weekend. During the start of the Summer Game Fest, Geoff Keighley officially confirmed that the Battlefield 2042 gameplay would be shown during the Xbox and Bethesda games showcase.
Summer Game Fest is just getting started, as the summer event takes place on various dates between now and July 22. The game show began with a packed start with various world premieres and official release dates and will conclude with EA Play Live. Summer Game Fest encompasses other presentations such as Netflix Geeked Week on June 11, Ubisoft Forward on June 12, and Steam Next Fest on June 16. Summer Game Fest has a gap in their dates between June 23 and July 22, so more game showcases may be added to the lineup as it continues.
EA will have its own EA Play Live event later this summer, but the publisher will continue to be around E3 weekend. EA pops up multiple times over the weekend, but now Battlefield fans are guaranteed to see more of the upcoming FPS. EA officially revealed Battlefield 2042 on June 9 leading up to E3 weekend and fans can see more during the Xbox and Bethesda game showcase on June 13 at 10 amPT. Keighley didn’t hint at any other EA announcements joining the Xbox and Bethesda showcase, but the existing deal between EA and Xbox could show even more EA franchises appearing.
In March, a slew of EA Play content joined the Xbox Game Pass line, bringing with it games from the Battlefield, Dragon Age, and Need For Speed franchises. Considering the EA and Xbox partnership, it’s not surprising that Battlefield 2042 is joining the Xbox and Bethesda gaming showcase. Battlefield fans can play almost every Battlefield title through Xbox Game Pass and some people speculate that Battlefield 2042 will end up on the subscription service as well.
EA has confirmed various details of Battlefield 2042 along with the initial reveal trailer, but the Xbox and Bethesda game showcase may offer Battlefield fans some gameplay from the multi-generational sequel. Since Battlefield 2042 will not offer a campaign, fans of the franchise are anticipating that more details about multiplayer will be released.
Battlefield 2042 will launch on October 22 for PS5, Xbox Series X / S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. More details on the game are coming soon, with a game reveal scheduled for June 13. Stay tuned for more details.
