Over the years, PUBG: Battlegrounds has seen so many changes. We’re proud of all the improvements our little game has seen over the years, but now is the time for the game to take its biggest step forward – free play.
It has been a long road to get there. On March 24, 2017, PUBG: Battlegrounds was little more than the hope and heart of a small team of developers when it debuted in Early Access. In a heartwarming and humbling turn of events, fans around the world embraced the organized chaos of our battle royale as they experienced the tension of the game, realistic shooter, and uninterrupted action from your seat. Following the unprecedented success, Battlegrounds has found its place on PlayStation and other platforms, expanding our community. Throughout our journey, which is approaching five years, we’ve seen over 14 billion hours of gameplay across our eight maps, which is the most available in the Battle Royale genre.
Free-to-play Battlegrounds now gives us the ability to expand our community even more and bring the thrills of PUBG and Battle Royale to all, while also offering new friends, and let’s be honest, more targets for our existing player base. In many ways, free-to-play was our natural next step. Since launch, our intention has always been to bring the battlefields to as wide an audience as possible. That’s part of the reason we decided to launch Early Access, that’s why we became consoles and other platforms, and that’s why we extended the PUBG franchise to include other businesses like esports and entertainment. With free-to-play, we can finally achieve an important and long-standing goal.
To show how much we appreciate the support, all players who owned and played PUBG: Battlegrounds prior to the free service transition can receive the PUBG – Special Memorial Pack, which includes a free Battleground Plus upgrade and various rewards. .
So what can new players expect next year? Well, they can expect 100 survivors to parachute in a win-win showdown featuring the best-in-class shooter. Players must land, loot, and survive not only on some of the biggest battle royale maps, but also the widest variety of maps, which include forest, jungle, snow, desert, town and city environments. the country. Battlegrounds free-to-play will also include several improvements we’ve been working on, some of which are focused on our new players. We look forward to unveiling more as the launch approaches and in the months to come.
For our existing player base, we would like to thank our longtime fans with a special PUBG – Special Memorial Pack for everyone who purchased the game, which includes seven cosmetic items and access to Battlegrounds Plus, which unlocks all features. of the game while providing account boosts. Since the Special Commemorative Pack will only be available from December 12 11 p.m. PT / December 13 8 a.m. CET until January 10, 2022 11 a.m. PT / 8 p.m. CET on PlayStation Store, make sure you pick it up before it goes live. does not disappear.
PUBG: Battlegrounds free-to-play will go live on January 12, 2022, so stay tuned for more. We really think now is the best time to play, so strengthen your team and get ready to enter to win this Chicken Dinner with as many friends as you can. See you on the battlefields.
