After a litany of Call of Duty: Vanguard-related leaks that began rolling out earlier this week, Activision and developer Sledgehammer Games decided to tackle those leaks head-on with a teaser poking fun at all of the leaks.
Revealed on the official Call of Duty Twitter account yesterday, Activision shared a few seconds of footage of what appears to be Vanguard’s debut trailer. However, the video itself was edited in some way and was meant to play with the fact that information related to the game has emerged during the previous day. The trailer simply shows a panoramic camera on top of a roof, where in the distance we can see many planes flying in unison. However, instead of showing these planes, the Call of Duty team edited the words “Leaks” and “Rumors” as a way of saying that the Vanguard-related leaks are coming quickly. In response, many fans were surprised to see the Call of Duty editor being so playful with this reveal.

The only thing that seems to confirm this trailer for Call of Duty: Vanguard is that the game will take place during WWII. This is something we’ve heard quite a bit about over the past few months, but the city shown in this trailer (and the planes that can somehow be distinguished) definitely appear to be from this era. Developer Sledgehammer Games most recently worked on the latest entry in the series that took place in this time period with 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII.
At this point, we still don’t know when Activision plans to formally reveal Call of Duty: Vanguard, but since the publisher is now officially displaying the game in this way, it seems like we should learn a lot more in the near future.
