Fatshark has confirmed through a post on Twitter that Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will be delayed for an entire year due to the challenges posed by the pandemic for the studio. The game was scheduled for 2021, but we have already passed half the year and we have not seen anything of the game.
Therefore, the announcement of the delay is not surprising, changing the release date has become a custom during and after the quarantine so no one has reacted in a negative way – at least not on Twitter, which is usually little considerate of the developers.
Another that falls
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide was first revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase in July last year. It was one of those games that did not show any playability, so it attracted attention but was the target of criticism for it. Clearly the title was in an early stage of development, as we still didn’t see much material a year later.
The title will focus on the futuristic Warhammer universe and will play as a first-person shooter. Players will move in groups of four to enjoy a cooperative experience eliminating enemies that come in hordes and who from Fatshark clarify that they are not zombies.
The statement lists the pandemic as one of the reasons for the delay and reveals that the game is not ready, so they will spend more time on development. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will now arrive in spring 2022 on Xbox and PC, although a release on PS5 is not ruled out.
