Artist Gabriel Björk Stiernström had the audacity to publish his artwork for From Softwar on the Elden Ring subreddit. The game community is eager for news about the title so their work is currently under scrutiny by hundreds of people who believe they have discovered something new about the game.
Luckily (or not), Stiernström clarified his level of intimacy with the project and From Software, so some things need to be put into context. The artist worked for Digic Pictures, an intermediary between artists and studios, and it was from them that he received guidelines and instructions for drawing and digitizing concept art for the E3 2019 trailer.
Hope for fans
That trailer is the only one we have, and one that we break down and analyze in our article on everything we know about Elden Ring. Therefore, the concept art of that single video seems relevant and more so when we notice that, beyond Stiernström’s impressive work, there are certain details that are like a nod to fans of theories.
The images shared by the artist are basically that of a female character hammering in a forge in what appears to be the root of a tree. There are several theories that the world of the Elden Ring originates from Yggdrasil, an element of Norse mythology. In addition, it would be “confirmed” that the female character in the trailer is also a blacksmith, something the trailer only hints at.
There are also many talking about how the artist has uploaded his work to Reddit and ArtStation without consequences, so his confidentiality agreement would have been compromised. This would indicate that we would have news from Elden Ring soon, but it is not 100% certain.
Another aspect to note is that the artist says that since his work for E3 he has not been involved in the project. Stiernström went to great lengths to just promote his work and clarify that the instructions he received for working on the trailer may have changed, but the community is currently very busy analyzing the footage.
