GameStop’s website lists a used copy of FromSoftware’s Elden Ring for PlayStation 5 at a ridiculously high price.
Video game retailer GameStop is currently offering a second-hand copy of FromSoftware’s Elden Ring for a ridiculously high price. FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is the highest-rated video game of 2022 so far, and it’s safe to say it’s on many shortlists for Game of the Year. But even the most die-hard fans of Elden Ring would scoff at the high price the game is currently listed for on GameStop’s website.
GameStop is currently offering a used copy of Elden Ring on PS5 for $189.99, and the price stays the same when you add the product to the shopping cart. What’s especially strange is that all other versions of the game are listed at different prices. A used copy of Elden Ring on Xbox Series X is currently listed at $54.99, and switching from Used to New brings the price down to $49.94. Clearly the high price of the PS5 version of Elden Ring is a bug of some kind, but it’s strange that it’s been like this for more than a day. It was shared by Wario64 on Twitter yesterday and has yet to be changed at the time of writing.
It is not clear exactly what is causing the error. It could be a simple technical issue on GameStop’s part. Perhaps the price is for a used copy of the Elden Ring collector’s edition instead of the standard PS5 copy. The Elden Ring Collector’s Edition was priced at $299.99 at launch, but used copies can be found for around $200 on sites like eBay. That’s just speculation at this point though, and there’s really no way of knowing why GameStop is listing a regular second-hand copy of Elden Ring at such a high price or why the obviously wrong price has been on the list for so long. at least one full day. maybe even longer, without being repaired.

This isn’t the first time GameStop’s website has made a major pricing mistake. A couple of years ago, GameStop accidentally listed a lot of their products for free. The internet quickly caught on, and many online took advantage of the bug. GameStop was relatively quick to fix that particular issue, bringing everything back to its normal price in no time, so it’s unclear why it’s taking so long with this Elden Ring price bug. It’s possible the heist was due to Labor Day, but again, that’s just speculation.
Hopefully this GameStop price bug will be fixed soon for anyone looking to buy a used copy of Elden Ring for themselves. Of course, since the new version of Elden Ring is currently cheaper through GameStop’s website, those interested should probably go that route.
