Intel just announced officially Arc, its new brand for its line of dedicated graphics cards. The first will be called Alchemist and will arrive in mid-2022 to compete with the 3070 from Nvidia or the 6800 from AMD, so it goes directly to the upper mid-range.
Something like this had been rumored for months and this graphic was called by the code name DG2, but now it already has its official announcement and a video showing its potential on YouTube.
A new contender
It is worth noting that the trailer is not a big deal, some videos of games are shown running on the graph. But seen in this way it is impossible to determine how well they run on this GPU and its compatibility with processors other than the same Intel. You can see the video below.
On the other hand it seems that Intel will call its graphics with thematic names of medieval fantasy. Alchemist is the first but then we will get Druid, Battlemage and Celestial, so they look like RPG character names.
To meet the expectations of competing with a 3070, Intel would be going strong as soon as it began its journey along this path set by AMD and Nvidia. Intel has already made GPUs in the past, but never at this scale and with these goals, so all eyes are on Alchemist, which will arrive in 2022.
You can watch another video below with the Alchemist designers talking about what we can expect from the Arc line.
