The producer of the Dynasty Warrior series, Akihiro Suzuki, has published a statement through a published image on Koei Tecmo’s official Twitter account. In this he apologizes on behalf of the entire team as they have decided to delay the game beyond its original release window which was “early 2021”.
You could say that the game will be delayed indefinitely, but the truth is that Koei had already shown enough of the game, especially on Japanese news channels. So you might think that the delay won’t be long enough to get the game to a 2022 release.
No excuse delay
However, we only have to wait, the same team is working on a delivery for mobile devices that is scheduled for the end of this year. Koei Tecmo did not mention the causes of the delay, it could be this mobile delivery or directly the pandemic that is a more than valid reason not to force its employees to reach a specific date.

Dynasty Warriors 9 is the last installment of the saga that, according to Siliconera, would be quite continuous with respect to the previous ones. The news would include a fairly deep character creator and editor that they already created for Nioh 2 and that they would seek to leverage for games from other franchises. In addition, another novelty would be the assault on castles and military bases that could take center stage over the battles on the battlefield.
The same producer mentioned that he would be interested in taking advantage of the new features of the DualSense, so it may have exclusive features on PS5.
Dynasty Warriors 9: Empire is intended for release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The new release window will be announced in due course, according to Koei Tecmo.
