EA has released a new 4K trailer for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition along with its release date, so Mass Effect fans know exactly when they can revisit these three classic sci-fi RPGs.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition’s release date is Friday, May 14 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with all three games remastered to support 4K images. There won’t be a PS5 or Xbox Series X version of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, but those who play the game on next-gen consoles will still have some perks to look forward to. What exactly those next-gen enhancements are has not been specified at the time of writing, but presumably those playing Mass Effect: Legendary Edition on PS5 or Xbox Series X will get an additional performance boost.
Regardless of which platform players use to play Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, the content will remain the same. This includes the original Mass Effect trilogy of games, along with more than 40 pieces of downloadable content. In addition to the substantial story DLC that was released for the original Mass Effect games back in the day, this DLC includes weapons, armor, and other DLC as well.

Filters recently teased that a trailer for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was coming soon, so it’s good to see that fans of the franchise didn’t have to wait long to see it. It’s also nice that the game now has a firm release date, so those hop ing to revisit the original Mass Effect games with enhanced visuals know exactly when they will be able to.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition should be a great way for fans of the franchise to rally while they await more information on the new Mass Effect game currently in development at BioWare. The new Mass Effect game was announced at The Game Awards 2020 with a trailer confirming little beyond that it will apparently be set in the Milky Way (like the original trilogy) and that fan-favorite character Liara T’Soni will be involved. somehow. However, the game is in the early stages of development, so fans shouldn’t expect substantial details anytime soon.
If Mass Effect: Legendary Edition proves popular enough, it will be interesting to see if other BioWare games receive similar treatment, such as the Dragon Age franchise. There have been rumors that a port of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is also in the works, so hopefully BioWare fans will have even more classic games to play on their current-gen hardware soon.
