The Last of Us 2 patch for PS5 was in the works, according to a recent rumor circulating from an insider on the series.
Yesterday, January 26, another user asked the user of ResetEra, Navtra, which correctly predicted many of the announcements on last year’s PS5 storefront, whether it should wait to pick The Last of Us 2, should a new update or content come up in the Naughty Dog sequel line. “I know a patch was in the works at some point, but I’m not sure if or when it is still happening,” Navtra responded. “However, I would be surprised if it doesn’t have a patch.”
Right now, you can play The Last of Us 2 on your PS5 through the backward compatibility feature of the console. The ResetEra user claim hints that the game could get some additional features, if the next-gen PS5 patch for the game really goes ahead. On other next-gen ports, that often means improvements in things like frame rate and resolution, but what that would look like in this case is unknown.
Recently, this particular ResetEra user has been the source of another alleged leak: Death Stranding Extended Edition. Along with the claim for an update for the Naughty Dog sequel, the user also claimed that a definitive edition of the Kojima Productions game was in the works for PS4 and PS5, and would offer all-new story content, among other new bonuses.
However, right now we will have to wait and see if this statement turns out to be true. However, we would be absolutely willing to replay the Naughty Dog epic. To see why we ranked it as our number two game last year, head over to our full Game of the Year 2020 article for more information.
