According to a new report from Gaming Intel From industry expert Tom Henderson, developing Battlefield 2042 has not been a straightforward process. A Henderson source attributes these issues to management, which has ignored the issues raised by the team, while encouraging them to copy some of the more popular elements of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Henderson states that he is “unclear about what exactly this means,” but cites the Modern Warfare operators as an example that made its way to Battlefield 2042. The “specialists” in the game have replaced the class system that appeared in previous Battlefield.
Apparently this attempt to woo the Call of Duty crowd has extended to content creators as well. Henderson notes that several content creators associated with Call of Duty were included for the game’s beta capture event, but creators traditionally associated with the Battlefield series were left out. For longtime fans of the series, this focus on a completely different shooting franchise may cause some concern.
Henderson’s report comes after the launch of the Battlefield 2042 beta. While some people really enjoyed the beta, others felt that it seemed to be in a place that did not reflect how far along the game should be. In particular, the beta version contained a significant number of bugs. Henderson also claims that he has heard that DICE is having “major stability issues with versions of the game.”
There is more than a month to go until the launch of Battlefield 2042, and there is still hope that some of these glitches will have been resolved by then. However, Henderson’s report ends on a stern note, revealing that some employees fear for their jobs given the state of the game. This holiday season will be competitive for the first-person shooter genre, with Call of Duty: Vanguard and Halo Infinite releasing a few weeks after Battlefield 2042. Hopefully, Battlefield 2042 will end up being an enjoyable experience when it launches.
Battlefield 2042 will be released on November 19 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC. Are you looking forward to Battlefield 2042? Did you take a look at the beta version of the game? Let us know in the comments.
