For a while now we have felt that the games' obsession with 'crossover skins' is getting out of hand and here we have another example. Activision announced that the mega-popular Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will have a collaboration with the mega-popular Korean Netflix series The squid gamealso known in English as Squid Game.
Here is the trailer of the announcement published on the game's official YouTube channel. This shows one of the game operators collecting one of the invitation cards to the deadly game.
Specifically, the 'crossover' will be with the second season of the series, which will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, December 26, 2024.
When is the collaboration Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 con The squid game?
The video did not reveal the exact date of the collaboration, it only says that the 'crossover' will arrive in the month of January 2025. Surely there will be no shortage of a 'skin' inspired by the soldiers' pink uniforms.
The truth is that this collaboration seems a bit out of place to us. The original series was a fantastic critique of capitalism and the exploitation of those in need.but eventually succumbed to that which he sought to attack. Netflix turned the series into a phenomenon and even turned it into a game show that misunderstood everything the story wanted to say.
Taking into account the war themes of Call of Dutywe do not believe that the original idea of Squid Game fit well. They could surprise us, but most likely it is nothing more than an aesthetic simulation of the iconic elements of the series that, again, leaves its most important themes behind.
