There are just a few days left until the launch of one of the most anticipated games of the year and we are inundated with news about it, whether it be about new weapons, zombie mode options or a campaign with a more decent duration than the previous one. But what caught our attention the most was the revelation of one of the operators of Black Ops 6 with the name Volta Rossi, who is the first non-binary gender character in the history of the franchise Call of Duty.

According to the character description shared by DetonatedRossi is a cunning person of Italian nationality. He left the comfort of the aristocracy behind to make a new name for himself as a HUMINT specialist with ties to the Luttazzi family.

It is worth noting that, in the official English description it uses ‘they/them’ pronouns.

In addition to appearing in the game’s campaign, we can play with this character in multiplayer mode. According to their page at the franchise wikiwe can get a skin for Elle at level 16 of the initial season pass.

Although we applaud that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has added a non-binary gender character like Volta Rossi, there are those who criticize that this commitment to diversity seems empty if we take into account the problems of harassment and workplace abuse at Activision Blizzard. Others believe that using gender diversity to promote a series of games that glorify war is inappropriate.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 It will be released for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X|S and PC on Friday, October 25, 2024.
