The most popular war video game franchise is sadly famous for having a community full of toxic gamers. Playing these titles online is synonymous with submitting to strings of racism, sexism, homophobia and all kinds of bad behavior. Its developers know this and are preparing for the arrival of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and the new Warzone updating its code of conduct and reaffirming its commitment to fight against toxicity.
This news comes after months, if not years, of community complaints about the apparent lack of action by Activision and its studios against the most offensive players.
Through a post on the official blog of the franchiseofficials say they have banned more than 500,000 accounts of toxic players. They have also changed inappropriate names of 300,000 accounts through automated systems and have support for moderation in 14 languages..
New code of conduct and values
They also revealed a new code of conduct for users of Call of Duty in preparation for the arrival of Modern Warfare II and the new Warzonewhich is based on three values:
- Treat everyone with respect: We do not tolerate bullying or harassment. Including derogatory comments based on race, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, culture, faith, physical or mental abilities, or country of origin. All members of the community must be treated with respect and dignity.
- Compete with integrity: Competitive integrity is fundamental to the experience of Call of Duty. Progression is gained through fair play. Cheating, assault, or other threats to fair play will not be tolerated.
- Keep alert: By working together we can keep the game fair and fun for everyone. To promote an enjoyable gaming experience, please use the tools to report any incidents or inappropriate behavior you witness.
All this sounds very good, but it remains to be seen if the team of Call of Duty yes it will enforce these rules.
