Hoyoverse’s popular ‘gacha’ game always seems to be surrounded by controversy, but the scandal it was embroiled in recently turned out to be much more serious than usual. Through a statement published on social networks, the study announced that the voice actor Elliot Gindi will stop playing Dignitary and the change will be reflected in future updates of Genshin Impact. This news comes days after Gindi was accused of engaging in underage fan relations.
At the beginning of February 2023, the accusations of at least three people were made public, saying that Gindi manipulated them to seek relationships with them and that he even threatened to commit suicide to get his way. The actor accepted that he was in a relationship with these people but denied knowing that any of them were minors. He also said that it is true that he threatened to commit suicide, but that he did not measure the gravity of his words in doing so.
In its official statement, Hoyoverse says the actor’s firing is due to a “breach of contract.”
Hoyoverse clarified that there will be a new voice actor playing Tignari in Genshin Impact soon and that the current voices, performed by Elliot Gindi, will gradually be replaced.
Tignari is a fan-loved character and one of the first we meet upon arriving on Sumeru. We think it’s a good idea to replace the actor and hope the ranger isn’t linked to a real person who is clearly an abuser.
