The player Diego Armando Maradona, who died on November 25, 2020 and remains one of the great icons of soccer and the series FIFA from EA, was removed from the popular game. A few days ago, the players discovered a message from EA Sports in which they were notified of said suspension, due to a third-party legal dispute.
“Due to a third party legal dispute, we must suspend Diego Maradona from appearing on the packages of FIFA Ultimate Team, Ultimate Draft y el equipo Soccer Aid World XI.
Therefore, Diego Maradona’s ICON items will not be available in the packs, Squad Building Challenge and FUT Draft, and their price range has been corrected until further notice.
We share our disappointment with our fans and look forward to bringing back one of the game’s great icons at some future time.”

Why doesn’t Diego Maradona appear in FIFA?
As reported Eurogamerlast year it was discovered that Stefano Ceci, Maradona’s former manager and who claimed to own the rights to the Argentine soccer player, signing the contracts with EA Sports, was not actually the owner of said rights.
Apparently Matías Morla and his company Sattvica made the same in August 2020. Even more incredible is that Morla has been involved in legal disputes with Maradona’s daughters for the last two years, who in turn claim that Morla should not have rights first.
This complicated conflict disables EA Sports to negotiate with any of the three parties, Ceci, Morla and Maradona’s daughters. At the moment it is unlikely to see the Argentine star again in the games of FIFA
«We have always included the image of Maradona under valid license agreements, first with Mr. Maradona and later with the company in charge of managing his rights worldwide»concludes an EA Sports spokesperson.
