The situation in the video game industry is so bad that even working on one of the most successful titles of recent months does not guarantee a developer that he will not be fired. Recently we learned that the Chinese company netease dismissed some of the developers of Marvel Rivals Despite the massive success of the game, which is furious apart from the players community.
Those affected were the six team members who worked in game level design from Seattle, United States. This was revealed by Thaddeus Sassed – director of that team – through its LinkedIn page y confirmed by Second Wind journalist, Nick Calandra. Another of the affected employees said in his own publication that “you cannot dodge the great boot regardless of the success of the work.”

Although some have tried to justify the dismissals saying that “they no longer need this team after the launch,” most players have expressed confusion and discomfort. This team demonstrated great talent and competition for its work that is not being considered.
A few hours after the scandal unleashed, netease finally spoke. Through a statement that was shared by Geoff Keighty – the game of The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest – they explained that having fired this support team of Marvel Rivals It is part of «A reorganization process to improve the efficiency of game development». They also clarify that the developer's core is located in Guangzhou, China, and that it has not been affected.
The players continued to criticize Netease after this statement noticing how empty those words are and as “reorganization” has become the star excuse of managers who want to justify dismissals.
