Last weekend, during Evo Japan 2025, Bandai Namco revealed the roadmap of the different update releases and DLC content for Tekken 8. Now, the Japanese developer has revealed the notes of the patch that will update to Tekken 8 to version 2.01. This is now available for game holders and includes, in addition to balance sheets of universal characters and mechanics, the addition of elements for the online store of the game.
What are the changes in the May update Tekken 8?
The update, which will be implemented once the maintenance of the servers is finished, introduces a wide range of changes aimed mainly to mitigate what the developer has identified as “excessive returns” of certain movements. In addition, adjustments have been made to reduce the damage inflicted by air combos, modify the performance of the Heat Burst and, particularly, decrease the damage chip caused by the Heat Smash. These modifications seek a more balanced, strategic game that does not depend on bets or the fate of the player.
Beyond the changes in the balance of the fighters, the 2.01 update also introduces new content for the players. The “Cyber Phantom Pack” and the “Tech Pack Vigilante” have been added, which will presumably include aesthetic customization elements for the characters. These packs will allow users to expand their visual individualization options, an aspect that has been well received by the community in previous deliveries of the saga.

Future changes and updates that will reach Tekken 8
Bandai Namco also confirmed that the update of the version 2.02 of Tekken 8 will arrive on June 3, 2025. This update, which will include balance settings, will arrive to start a collaboration with the film Karate Kid: Legends. This collaboration will add to Tekken 8 a series of cosmetic elements in commemoration of the film's premiere. In addition to the elements of collaboration, version 2.02 of Tekken 8 Add new classic costumes for Kuma, Panda – with a wide variety of colors – and Dragunov.
Later, during the third quarter of 2025, the version 2.03 of Tekken 8. This update will continue with the tendency to include balance settings and finally introduce the expected PAC-MAN scenario, entitled “Pac-Pixels.” In addition to the scenario, this version will add visual coup effects with the theme of Pac-Mana shirt to wear within the game, a peluche ghost package, an appearance with PAC-MAN for the Tekken Ball mode and a PAC-MAN head as a customization object.
