Remedy is developing ‘remakes’ of Max Payne Y Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne for current generation platforms. In a surprise announcement, the Finnish studio announced its alliance with Rockstar Games to bring back this ‘third-person shooter’ for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Remedy is the original developer of both titles.
Rockstar will put up the capital for the project and Remedy will develop it into a triple-A level game characteristic of the industry. The studio will rebuild both games with its Nortlight Engine, the same engine used in the production of Control
“We were very excited when our old friends at Remedy approached us to remake the original Remedy games. Max Payne. We are fans of the work the Remedy team has created over the years and can’t wait to play these builds again.”Rockstar Games co-founder Sam Houser noted.
Released in 2001, Max Payne it was the game that put Remedy on the map by establishing its particular narrative style. It was also one of the first video games to include the ‘bullet-time’ effect that made the movie popular. The Matrix. Two years later the sequel would also be distributed by Rockstar. The Game Boy Advance received a decent isometric adaptation created by Möbius Entertainment (Rockstar Leeds).
Max Payne 3 (2012) was developed by Rockstar Studios under the RAGE engine, also used in the series Grand Theft Auto Y Red Dead Redemption.
