Gamers who are counting down the days until the release of one of the most anticipated titles of the decade received some desperate news over the weekend. An alleged informant claimed that GTA 6 It would have been postponed until 2026 and that the PC version could arrive until 2028but there doesn’t seem to be any reason to believe this rumor… at least for now.
Those who believe this alleged whistleblower say that last year he correctly revealed that the trailer of GTA 6 would be released in December. That’s true, but that doesn’t confirm that their sources — who say they belong to two different studios involved in the game’s development — are real or reliable.
What do reliable informants say about the alleged postponement of GTA 6 a 2026?
One fairly reliable informant is Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, who we know has contacts at both Rockstar Games and Take Two. Here’s what he had to say about it.
“The good news is that six Rockstar employees told me they haven’t heard of any delays. The bad news is that it’s a big, ambitious game and that information may not have reached them.”
Schreier insists he can’t confirm 100% that there isn’t a delay, but the lack of an official internal announcement from Rockstar suggests the rumor is false.
The latest official word on this game’s release date remains that it will be coming out in 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
