PS5 users are enjoying the demo de Stellar Blade for a few days now and anticipation for the game is growing ahead of its launch on April 26. Kim Hyung Tae, CEO of Shift Up Corporation, revealed that the studio’s next big release – distributed by Sony Interactive Entertainment – will include the ‘New Game Plus’ or ‘New Game +’ mode shortly after its launch. Furthermore, he assures that Stellar Blade It will not have microtransactions, with one theoretical exception.
In an interview with Ruliweb, Tae explained that the exception would be a paid collaboration with another company’s IP. Maybe NieR? We wouldn’t be surprised, given 2B’s ability to appear in multiple cameos throughout the industry. However, the collaboration is not defined at the moment.
«We want to clarify at this point that Stellar Blade will not require additional expenses that players are not aware of, beyond what they paid for the game. The only exception is if we create costumes in collaboration with another company’s IP, which could sell for a certain value. Also, there is no ‘New Game +’ mode in the release version, please look out for an update very soon.”
As we can read, the thing about the single microtransaction is theoretical because collaboration is only a hypothetical element. It is very likely, given the popularity that the Shift Up title has received and that many players have tried it in its demo for PS5. One possibility is that it is done with Goddess of Victory: Nodanother Shift Up game where Jiyun Chaewife of Kim Hyung Tae, works as an artist in addition to Stellar Blade.
Stellar Blade was announced in 2019 under the codename Project EVE.
