When Game Science accepted the game of the year award for its work inspired by Journey to the Westthey said they were working on new content that players could enjoy very soon. Still we didn't expect it to be SO soon. Black Myth: Wukong received the update patch to version 1.0.12.16581 on December 10, 2024 in the Epic Games Store for PC and will soon also arrive on Steam and PS5, adding new features such as 'Challenges' against bosses, hordes, maps and new equipment.
Let's see what new features this update brings. Please note that the official Spanish names of the challenges and equipment may be different.
Challenges
If we are done Black Myth: Wukong With any of the endings, we can visit any altar to find the Challenges option in its menu and participate in two challenges for experts:
- Return of the Rivals: We can re-face any boss we have defeated before and choose between three different levels of difficulty.
- legends challenge: This is a 'horde mode' in which we face enemies successively with different curses affecting us.
Among the rewards for completing different Legend Challenges are the following items:
- Medicine Shiny Scale Pills
- Medicine Formula Bright Scales Pill
- Drinks Bitter wine, Antifreeze Chrysanthemums and Robust Horn.

New armor set
One of the new features of the update patch to version 1.0.12.16581 on December 10, 2024 for Black Myth: Wukong It's the new set Armor of Opulence. This set to be used to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year can be found as a gift on the menu of any altar after installation.

One of the main criticisms we made against this game in our review It's just that some scenarios are frustrating by design. These new maps will help us guide ourselves much better through the scenarios.
We can get the maps after meeting the Guardian of Black Wind Mountain. Every time we reach a new area, we can visit an altar to buy the map.
