If you like me the era of RPG titles in 8 and 16 bits, you are likely to like the new creation from Mega Cat Studios and Skybound Games. We are talking about WrestleQuest, a game that brings wrestling to this genre.
The official trailer introduces us to its protagonist, Randy “Muchacho Man” Santos, a Mexican tribute to the well-known professional wrestler Randy “Macho Man” Savage. It is about a rookie fighter who seeks glory and starts an adventure to fight against the legends of the ‘rings’.
As is customary in classic RPGs, the idea is not only to find and defeat enemies, but also to start recruiting powerful companions and leveling up with them in order to overcome the greatest challenges. Thus, we find a typical turn-based gameplay in which the fighters of each team launch special movements such as Muchacho Man’s “Burrito Body Slam”.
According to the official trailer, certain movements will influence the emotion of the public. This can be an important element for matches, which often end with a ‘pinfall’ move (count to three with the opponent on the ground). It has not been clarified what types of mechanics or story there may be outside of the confrontations.
