Months ago both Remedy and Epic Games announced that they would work together to release a new installment of Alan Wake. The developer had not created anything new for a while, until Control arrived exclusively for the Epic Game Store on PC. Hence a relationship was born that seems to lead to more games in this universe.
And it is that the second DLC of Control, AWE, has confirmed that it shares Alan Wake universe. So this looks like it will be Remedy’s big new investment, with the help of Epic Games, of course.
Alan Wake back
It is not confirmed that they are already working on the sequel, but we are almost sure that they are. The new financial report says the following:
The AAA game project with Epic Games has entered full production, and a second, smaller-scale game remains in full production mode.
The only project of this nature is the sequel to Alan Wake, so at least we can assume that it is already in development. “Full production” means that the majority of the studio has this project as a priority and the preliminary concept sentences have already been completed.
On the other hand, the game that is in the early stages of development is the sequel to Control. The statement does clarify that at least it will have more budget than its first installment and that for now they are working with concept art and some early ideas.
In addition, there is a third “smaller” project that is in its last stage of development. So we hope they announce it soon, then Alan Wake 2 would arrive and finally another installment of Control. We do not have dates for this, but clearly they are somewhat far in time, so we will have to wait.
