While Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters have been featured on all existing social media for the wrong reasons (or not), little has been said about the true nature of these villains. Capcom has long played with the idea that Resident Evil 8 is actually called Village, so it would be “another game.”
In fact, we have not seen zombies, but “vampires”, witches and giants. These elements are from horror, but not from a Resident Evil that was always founded on science fiction and not fantasy. However, now that the demo has a few days available exclusively for PS5, we can talk about a clue that Capcom left in a document.
Possible experiments
This paper lists a group of candidates, only three are really “candidates”, while another dozen were “rejected”. This is no accident, with REs it never is in the documents, so we could assume that Irina, Mihaela and Louise are the three vampires that accompany Lady Dimitrescu in the promotional material of the game.
Throughout the demo it is said through images and gameplay that what happens there, more than supernatural, is related, of course, to experiments. This list would be the first official document that talks about candidates for an experiment that only a part surpasses.
In this way, the idea of ”vampires” begins to falter, certainly the community has called them that because they meet certain requirements. But the same demo suggests that they not only feed on blood, but on bodies themselves, specifically humans.
Also, this would align well with the theory that the mistress of the house is really a Tyrant, as was Mr. X and was Nemesis and so many others. Hence his size and powers, although certainly Dimitrescu seems much more aware of his own existence than Mr. X.
In the same way, it must be remembered that in RE 7 the franchise was “restarted”, history suggests it but Capcom has not said anything. So it is not clear where Village will be located in this complicated timeline of zombies that are no longer zombies.
RE Village is coming May 7 to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC.
