A Genshin Impact Resin Daily Pass has been spotted on the Chinese PlayStation Store, and if the listing is accurate, this pass will allow players to pay a monthly fee in exchange for additional original resin each day.
Genshin sleuth AE Entropy highlighted Resin’s day pass in Twitter, and yet can be seen in the chinese store. Developer MiHoYo hasn’t officially announced the pass, nor can it be found in stores in the US or UK.
The roughly translated price and product description for the pass indicates that for around $ 5 a month ($ 4.63 converted from 30 Chinese Yuan), players will receive 60 Original Resins as a one-time bonus and 40 Original Resins daily for 30 days. This would position the pass as a resin counterpart to the Welkin Moon’s Blessing $ 5 pass, which gives players 90 First Gems a day for 30 days.
It’s worth noting that, technically, Genshin Impact already sells original resin through Primogema refills. Each day, players can exchange Prime Gems for an additional 60 Resins up to six times. The first reload costs 50 Primogems, but the cost increases with subsequent recharges. The maximum of six refills per day costs 800 Primogems, which equates to approximately $ 10 in Premium Crystals that can be converted into Primogems.
If we use the initial Resin Refill as a reference and assume that 60 Resin is worth 50 Primogems, then the 1,260 Monthly Resins that this daily pass supposedly gets would be worth around 21 updates. With 50 Primogems an upgrade, it equates to 1,050 Primogem in Resin. For comparison, Welkin’s pass gives you 2,700 Prime Gems per month plus 300 Crystals immediately, which is almost triple the value in terms of pure Prime Gems. However, when treating 80 Primogems as $ 1 (based on the store’s cheapest Crystal refill), the Resin Day Pass offers about $ 13 in value overall.
There is some flawed math, but the point is, for $ 5 a month you can basically loot an additional world boss or two additional domains a day. You can argue for or against the value of this resin day pass depending on your point of view and play style, but since the Genshin Impact community already requests additional resin bonuses to compensate for the slow reload rate, it’s easy to imagine that this type of pass may not be particularly well received by some players unless accompanied by other resin changes.
All that said, it is important to remember that this Resin Day Pass has not been officially announced, so even if it is planned for the game, all details are subject to change. We reached out to MiHoYo for more information and will update our reports if we receive a response.
