Doom Eternal: Update 6 is out now, adding a new master level, a new battle mode map, cosmetics, and many long-requested fixes.
Earlier today, id Software released its long-awaited next-gen update for Doom Eternal, bringing the acclaimed shooter to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S with ray tracing, improved images and higher frame rates. However, Doom fans who have failed to choose a next-gen platform shouldn’t feel left out, as that’s not the only major chunk of content releasing today.
Previously announced via id Software’s social media channels, Doom Eternal: Update 6 is out now, offering players a variety of new free additions to the game’s single and multiplayer modes. Players will get additional cosmetics, a new battle mode map, and even a new master level, allowing them to test their skills against an onslaught of demonic opponents.
The Master Level is probably the biggest draw of the group, taking players back to Argent D’Nur’s capital, Taras Nabad. Players visited the location during the second half of the Doom Eternal story campaign, though the Master Level will be far more difficult than anything the Doom Slayer encountered during his original visit to retrieve his Crucible.
Like other master levels, id Software refers to it as “a whole new combat experience”, offering players a challenge that will test their knowledge of Eternal and its various combat mechanics. Those looking for an extra layer of difficulty can even dive into the map in classic mode, which kicks them off with just a combat shotgun and tasks them with finding the rest of their weapons and mods.
As for the new battle mode map, it is titled Corrosion and takes players to an abandoned fortress consumed by a swamp. The area has underground catacombs and elevated platforms for the Doom Slayer to navigate as he blasts his way through demonic players, with id Software teasing that it offers plenty of “showdown potential” for multiplayer battles.
In terms of cosmetic, all players will get a free skin for the ballista called Ray Tracer, which models the new ray-traced reflections added in the next-gen update to Doom Eternal. They will also be able to earn a set of teal chrome skins by completing challenges and earning rewards. The trailer for Update 6 shows two of the set’s skins, one featuring the Doom Slayer in teal armor and one covering the Heavy Cannon weapon with a teal coating.
The plugin also includes new fixes, gameplay changes, and tweaks for Doom Eternal and Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods, which players can find on the Slayers Club website. The list is pretty comprehensive, going over everything from making the tentacles easier to hit to reducing the amount of plasma rifle microwave beam ammo it takes to send out a spirit.
Doom Eternal ya está disponible para PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Stadia, Xbox One y Xbox Series X.
