Cyberpunk 2077 player data on Steam is worrying to say the least
We still find the launch disaster that Cyberpunk 2077 had last December, especially if we are talking about PS4 and Xbox One, platforms where the title was practically unplayable. Still, many of us jumped into the river and finished it, and despite the countless glitches and bugs, the experience wasn’t that bad.
As you may already know, the launch left the gaming community so unhappy that CD Projekt had to modify your entire development roadmap for 2021 and 2022, focusing on solving problems and improving your product to expected standards. Yet in the video game industry time flies and everything indicates that gamers have already turned the page and moved on.
Despite all the improvements introduced in Cyberpunk 2077 through successive patches (we can attest that the game has improved a lot), CD Projekt doesn’t seem to be getting the attention
The Witcher 3 manages to overtake Cyberpunk 2077 in player numbers
According to the numbers drawn by Material timeWhen Cyberpunk 2077 launched, the game peaked on Steam of 800,000 concurrent players, reaching an average of 300,000 during the month of December. Well, in June that number fell to an average of barely 15,000 players.
The bloodiest thing about the data is that, if we compare the data with the players from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077 fails. The Sorcerer’s Game, the Polish studio’s biggest hit, released in 2015, has an average of 18,000 simultaneous players. We’ll see if CD Projekt makes a comeback with the release of planned content DLCs and next-gen native versions.
