A previously delayed Outriders patch intended to fix damage mitigation issues will now be released tomorrow, according to People Can Fly.
Outriders fans can finally receive an eagerly awaited patch that People Can Fly claims will fix issues related to mitigating player damage against enemy attacks. The developer announced today that this patch addressing Outriders damage mitigation issues, which was delayed last week due to potential instability, will be released tomorrow, May 25.
May has been a month of hard work for People Can Fly with stiff resistance from some dissatisfied players. While Outriders enjoyed a fairly successful April and surpassed an impressive 3.5 million players total, PCF’s efforts to correct several different bugs have frequently resulted in new issues being introduced to the game. Even the promised item restoration, which sought to fix one of the game’s most devastating bugs, received some criticism, as certain lucky players were able to get max stat legendary items with mod combos that would otherwise be impossible.
The Outriders’ damage mitigation issues have certainly hit their active player count. These issues have largely appeared in the final expeditions, and with no other efficient ways to earn Legends, many fans are hoping to play again until these issues are fixed. Although this new patch was originally supposed to be released last Thursday, it appears that PCF has finally fixed the stability issues. The main purpose of the patch is to fix damage mitigation issues, but it will also include bug fixes and diagnostics to help determine the cause of some persistent login issues that have persisted since launch.
Our final tests of today’s planned patch uncovered an issue that could pose a risk to the stability of the overall patch, so it will not release today.

In addition to working on patches, PCF has also addressed many player complaints during the month of May on Square Enix’s official Reddit page for Outriders. While not all of these complaints are receiving resolution, PCF continues to push for transparency with fans. Among the most informative comments from the developers are the posts describing the bug / patch fix process, PCF’s intentions regarding successful communication with players, and the meeting thread for those experiencing damage mitigation issues. who have contributed to the next patch.
If PCF can keep landing on this patch, it could restore the player’s confidence in the developer’s ability to get a clean patch. It would also be a great time for a much-needed fix, as Outriders are 25% off on the PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. With around 40 hours of story to complete and plenty of side missions to do before players hit the Expeditions, the game has a lot to offer fans of looters and shooter.
Some of the latest comments from PCF have also indicated that the company might be working on Outriders DLC. It is unknown if this DLC is exclusively a story expansion or also includes new gear and an upper level cap, but fans may view this news as a double-edged sword. If anything can be learned from the first few months of Outriders, many fans would rather have a highly polished DLC experience than one that launches soon.
Outriders is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S.
