We’re excited that The Persistence Enhanced launches for PS5 on June 11. Persistence Enhanced is fully optimized for next-gen hardware with the inclusion of immersive DualSense wireless controller haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, along with the inclusion of ray-traced rendering and a host of other enhancements.
Today, we take a closer look at what you can expect from The Persistence Enhanced on PS5, and how next-gen technology improves your gaming experience aboard the decks of the doomed deep space colony ship, The Persistence.
The Persistence has had an incredible journey since its initial exclusive PS VR exclusive release in 2018. Our team here at Firesprite were delighted to bring the game to the PS4 flat screen last year and are delighted to offer The Persistence Enhanced as another free update for current game owners.
This upgraded edition of our rogue-lite survival horror for the PS5 flat screen features a dynamic rasterized 4k60 fps Performance mode and a 4k30 fps Quality mode that features real-time reflections and overall lighting composing the maximum atmosphere and tension at board of the doomed spaceship.
These visual updates are not only fantastic, they also improve the core gameplay. Improved shadows, reflections and lighting provide clues to the positions of the creatures that now inhabit The Persistence, alerting the player to any potential threats lurking in dark corners alongside the immersive positional audio system implemented in the game. Even if an encounter with one of the mutants turns out to be fatal, you’ll very quickly find yourself reprinted into a new clone body ready for another execution, thanks to Instant Upload on PS5.
The DualSense Controller brings whole new dimensions of tactile immersion to your experience aboard The Persistence. With haptic feedback and adaptive trigger functionality, the difference and profile of each weapon will be felt when picked up.
It also extends to melee combat, from the impact of deflecting enemy attacks to the feeling of plunging a peacekeeping knife into the flesh of any aberrant creatures you encounter and feeling resistance as you go. ‘they are fighting and fighting for their survival.
The Persistence Enhanced features adaptive trigger pressure feedback for the various ranged weapons in the game, such as the Sentinel, Valkryie, or Grav Hook, for example, each requiring a different trigger pressure to master your attack. You’ll also feel the hits and hits from various enemy attacks, as well as the hum of your shield when it activates, thus suppressing any assault.
The update also features a host of quality of life improvements. With updated particle effects and HUD, UX and UI adjustments, along with audio and combat adjustments, we think it’s a fantastic experience for new players and those who are updating!
Persistence Enhanced arrives on PS5 on June 11 and will be available as a free upgrade for players who own the game on PS4.
