The MLB The Show series is the most successful of that sport in video games and until now it had been exclusive to Sony. However, months ago we learned that this would no longer be the case and today San Diego Studios confirmed it.
MLB The Show 21 will continue to be what the franchise is, a realistic baseball simulator officially licensed by the MLB and MLBA to represent the players within the title. But this time it will also come to Xbox and it will also do so with the long-awaited cross-game that has been standardized.
First time for everything
The most curious thing about the matter is that the studio that develops it is San Diego Studio that has been owned by Sony for some time. However, now the business model will also go through selling their games on Xbox, so we would be talking about one of the first titles created by Sony PlayStation to be published in direct competition.

One and Xbox Series X|S 🤝— PlayStation (@PlayStation) February 1, 2021
Lately we have seen how Sony has already expanded its horizons and launches games like Horizon Zero Dawn or Death Stranding on PC, however, this has never happened on other consoles, so we are facing the end of an era for a saga that certainly has everything at hand. Your favor to sell well on Xbox Series X / S.
It was also expected that there would be announcements related to PC and Switch, but for now it is not the case and these platforms will have to wait to know if they will also receive any games from San Diego Studios.
On the other hand, today the cover player has been revealed, as well as the release date. The chosen one is Dominican shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. who becomes the youngest player to appear on a series cover and the release date is April 20.
