Heavenly Bodies is just one day away from launch! We’re almost in disbelief that the time is finally right, but we’re more than happy to see our game in everyone’s hands.
To prepare everyone for their inevitably difficult time aboard the resort, we’ve put together a list of tips and tricks. It’s a must read for anyone who aspires to be an exceptional cosmonaut.
Tips and tricks for mastering the celestial bodies
Heavenly Bodies has a very unique physics based movement system unlike any other game. You only have to use your hands and arms to move your character and perform zero-g maintenance tasks. Unsurprisingly, some find this difficult, so we have a few tips for those who are having trouble understanding.
Choose your movement style
We have designed several “movement styles” in Heavenly Bodies that showcase different ways of moving your character. Each offers a different level of challenge, and we encourage you to find the right one for you.
Classic: This default style offers a good combination of challenge and fun. You’ll need to keep a firm grip to move effectively, but we’ve made a few exceptions to the physical realism that make it easier to spin and “swim” through the air when swinging your arms.
Assisted: For players who can appreciate ease of movement. Just pointing your hands in the direction you want to move will effortlessly move the character. It’s fun… and quite liberating.
Newtonian: The “physically precise” style for those seeking the full experience of weightlessness. None of that ‘swim in space’ nonsense. Every action has a punitive equal and opposite reaction.
Wait!
The best way to get the job done is to use your hands. Keeping a firm grip on solid surfaces will help you push and pull your body and give you the leverage you need when flipping switches or using tools.
Consult the manual
In case of doubt, the operations manual will give you the need to know. Check it out during missions for your next goals and for key details you won’t want to miss. Besides, it looks nice.
Keep the camera aligned
There is no “up” in space, but you will know when you are upside down. If you ever find yourself upside down, press square to realign the camera with your cosmonaut.
Try Grab Toggle and other control options
Weightlessness can be taxing on the body, and for extended space missions it is not unreasonable for fatigue to set in. If you find that grabbing / holding is too intense, try activating the Grab Toggle option. This will toggle the typing action on and off, instead of having to hold it down. It can also come in handy when you are moving objects over a long distance.
There are many options to explore in the commands menu, and we encourage you to adjust them to find the configuration that works best for you.
Bring a friend
If the lack of space is too much for you, try calling a friend through a local co-op. You can also invite them to an online session with PlayStation Share Play.
Do not abandon !
Professional cosmonauts train for years before you fly to the stars, so don’t lose your confidence! With time and practice, you will move like the best of them.
We hope you are now ready to take on whatever challenges the weightless world will present to you when Heavenly Bodies releases tomorrow. Meet at the top.
