Hi there! Huntdown, our retro action com-op shooter Arcade shooter, introduced the PS4 on May 12, and before release we want to give you a complete idea of the game, and how and why 80s action movies influenced the Huntdown universe.
In Huntdown he picks up weapons as three scheming hunters – one or two co-workers – purges the gangs that control the dystopian city. Unsurprisingly, our platform is drawn manually, pixel by pixel, like a vintage 16-bit game but with modern gameplay.
The idea and world we created at Huntdown is heavily inspired by the endless action movies and sci-fi movies we were raised on, and hopefully do it justice.
The city
Huntdown plays on all 20 levels, taking our dedicated hunters with a load of scattered, dystopian city graffiti. The biggest influence on our thick concrete jungle was Blade Runner's beautiful future with Los Angeles. We’ve tried to create a city where multipliers can feel at home.
The city has ecological features to create the atmosphere such as fruit smoke, dark urban skylines and flaming sports cars. Inspired by the dark side of movies like Escape From New York, Death Race 2000 (original) and Total Recall (original.) We also learned design from the era and tried to replicate it in this game, from art decoors to black marble columns, we wanted to create a world that couldn't be seen, but had a style.
Bounty Hunters
Our 16 bar bounty hunters are compared to 80s classic movies. From their individual dimensions to leather jackets, these people are formed around our childhood icons.
Mow Man is a converted recon droid that has been stolen and powered by banned software, created the ultimate murder machine, an unchanged love letter to Robocop and Termector.
