Apple still recommends taking devices with authorized agents, despite this it recognizes that not all users follow the instructions and has therefore updated their alerts for non-original components.
According to a post which was picked up by various media, now iOS 14.4 will alert users when it identifies non-original cameras on iPhone. The update follows the line imposed from the iPhone 11, when Apple added the alert in iOS that informed the user when the device has a non-genuine screen and internal third-party batteries.
Apple reports non-original cameras on iPhone
Starting with the second beta of iOS 14.4, a new message will appear for devices with cameras that are not original Apple hardware. The message says: “Cannot verify that this iPhone has an original Apple camera.” But, from here to and until the beta is tested on an iPhone with a non-Apple lens, it’s unclear where this message will appear.
However, it will be clear and most likely temporarily on the lock screen. It will probably also be included in the Settings> General> About screen, as stated in the current article on non-original Apple displays. The message is unlikely to interfere with the operation of the camera, although, as always, Apple clarifies that non-original components are not of the same quality as their original hardware.
Although the update for iOS 14.4 has been confirmed It remains to be confirmed whether it will be useful for all iPhones with this version of the operating system or only for the iPhone 12 line.
