If some video games are adapted from manga or comics and vice versa, combining the two allows you to immerse yourself a little more in the universe of these two media. Between Star Wars and Demon Slayer, here’s a selection of what not to miss in January 2021.

Granblue Fantasy Vol.8
Granblue fantasy is a manga written and drawn by Makoto Fûgetsu (designer of Re: Zero) COCHO. It takes up the story of the mobile game of the same name, which was released in Japan in 2014. The action takes place in a fantastic universe in which the people live on heavenly islands. We follow the journey of Gran, a teenager in search of the mysterious island of stars that his late father created. While his home island Zinkenstill is under attack by the Empire, he will meet Lyria, a young girl with extraordinary powers.

Final Fantasy – Lost Stranger Vol.6
Final Fantasy – Lost Stranger is a manga drawn by Itsuki Kameya and written by Hazuki Minase. This is the first licensed manga with the original story. It depicts Shogo and his sister Yuko, Square Enix employees who dream of working on the Final Fantasy saga. After an accident that kills them, Shogo and Yuko are promoted to the Universe of License. Strangers who have lost in an unknown place must survive in a world that is much more hostile than it was at first.

Ni no Kuni – The Heir of Light and the Cat Prince Vol. 2
Ni no Kuni – The Heir of Light and the Cat Prince is a manga drawn and written by Ran Kuze in collaboration with Level 5 (Ni no Kuni: Revenge of the Heavenly Witch, Ni no Kuni 2: Rise of a New Kingdom). We follow the story of Tasuku, a student who takes care of his little brother after losing his parents. One evening when he comes home from his kendo (sword class), a stranger tries to murder him in his house. While he tries to protect his younger brother, an interdimensional portal appears that teleports him into the magical world of Ni No Kuni.

Demon Slayer Vol.15
Demon Hunter is a manga drawn and written by Koyoharu Gotouge. The story takes place at the beginning of the 20th century and follows Tanjiro Kamado’s journey. When he returns from the market in the next town, he discovers that his entire family has been murdered by a demon. Only Nezuko, his younger sister, survived the attack but became a demon. Hence, Tanjiro will embark on a journey to find a vaccine that can return his sister to her human form. A video game adaptation for the PS4 is currently in development.

Pokémon – The Great Adventure – Sword & Shield Vol. 1
Pokémon – The Great Adventure – Sword & Shield is a manga drawn by Yamamoto Satoshi and written by Hidenori Kusaka. It takes place in the Galar region (which is reminiscent of the UK) where we follow the story of Arnold, a little boy who had just moved to the region. When he spots a giant Pokémon, it almost falls off a cliff, but is saved by Sword and Shield, two trainers. This encounter marks the beginning of Arnold’s journey as it allows him to receive his first Pokémon.

Spider-Man: The Final Fight is a comic book by Mark Millar drawn by Terry Dodson and Frank Cho. It’s a version that has been reissued by Panini under the label “Must Have”, a collection of essential superhero adventures, according to the publisher. in the Spider-Man: The Final Fight, one of Peter Parker’s enemies learns the true identity of the Spider-Man and kidnaps Aunt May. Spider-Man has to face several opponents before he gets his hands on the troublemaker.

Halo: collateral damage
Halo: collateral damage is a comic by Alex Irvine, drawn by Dave Corsland. It tells the story of World War I, the greatest conflict of the interstellar age. The latter put the United Nations Security Council (United Nations Space Command) against the Covenant Alliance, an extraterrestrial religious empire. We follow the first battles of the Spartan project (which includes the Master Chief), which is responsible for discovering the Alliance’s intentions in a mining station.

World of Warcraft 3: Breath of War
World of Warcraft 3: Breath of War is a comic book by Walter Simonson, illustrated by Mike Bowden, Jon Buran and Pop Mahn. It’s a remake of the World of Warcraft franchise that was released in the form of comics and comics between 2008 and 2009. It tells the story of Lo’gosh, an amnesiac in search of his past.

Injustice – The gods are among us – End the second year
Injustice – The gods are among us is a comic by Tom Taylor. After killing his pregnant wife by his own hands, Superman turns into a totalitarian tyrant. He set up dictation to keep the peace: people who disrespect them are tracked down and then imprisoned … even killed. From then on, an alliance of villains and superheroes was formed to overthrow the regime imposed by the Man of Steel.
