After Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster quit and sue DC Comics in a dispute over Superman’s rights, they create another character: Funnyman.
After just six issues from January to August 1948, actor-inspired hero Danny Kaye fell into disuse.
Max and Moritz by Wilhelm Busch, published for the first time on April 4, 1865, tell the story of two intolerable and mischievous rascals who enjoy terrorizing their entourage and the personalities of their village. These probably inspired Rudolph Dirks and his comic The Katzenjammer Kids (in France Pim Pam Poum – click the link above).
Unfortunately, they will end in a rather tragic way.
In fact, both of them are punished for their wrongdoings by ending up as food for geese after being polluted by the wheels of a mill. A farmer brings them to the mill and asks the miller to grind them like grains of wheat … sad end.
The clock is a fictional character by cartoonist George Brenner. He first appeared in “Funny Picture Stories” in Issue 1 of November 1936. He was the first masked hero in American comics.
