Can World War 3 still be saved? – Early Access conclusion after the release debacle
64 players on large maps, tanks, class system, an endlessly customizable arsenal of weapons: World War 3 had great ambitions when it entered Early Access in 2018 (and even conquered Steam’s bestseller list for a short time).
But although the strengths of the shooter were clearly recognizable, massive technical errors, bugs and balance problems caused a quick end. Finally, the purchase option on Steam was removed, since then the servers have been as good as empty and the title has been forgotten.
But now World War 3 is apparently planning the big comeback: The official account started on Twitter and Facebook Countdown that counts down to July 14th. Apparently you are about to announce the new shooter:

The relaunch of the game was announced in summer 2020. With the help of the new distribution partner My.Games (known for Armored Warfare, Skyforge, Conqueror’s Blade), a revision process began with an engine change, revision of the movement and much more:

On social media, fans of the game are also speculating about one Conversion to Free2Play with microtransactions – a model that My.Games is well known for. The question then would be what compensation will be given to buyers who have already spent 25 dollars on the original World War 3.
The time for a restart is definitely a daring one: In three months’ time, Battlefield 2042, a highly anticipated AAA competitor with a very similar setting, will be on the cards.
