The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will begin on July 23 and with these come collaborations with the anime world, which will surely make more than one Normie a fan.
Among the most anticipated collaborations is the premiere of the animated short by Studio Ponoc, a small studio made up of former Studio Ghibli employees who gave us the film ‘Ninokuni’ in the past.
With the title of ‘Tomorrow’s Leaves’, the project will be presented at the opening of the event telling in 8 minutes and 27 seconds a story about how the union of people who come from different places gives way to a bright future.
In the play we meet five envoys from distant lands, each with their own unique abilities, who come together to overcome athletic challenges and protect the world.
A promotional trailer was previously revealed detailing the members of the production made up of Yoshiyuki Momose, known for his work on ‘Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi’, ‘Kurenai no Buta and’ Mimi wo Sumabesa ‘. We cannot forget the work on the soundtrack by Takatsugu Muramatsu, who also provided the music for ‘Omoide no Marnie’.
Although the official premiere of ‘Tomorrow’s Leaves’ is scheduled for July 23, the short went through the Annecy International Animation Festival, which was held last June.
If you missed its premiere at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the good news is that the short will be available in theaters from July 23-29 at the United Cinema Toyosu in Tokyo.
Likewise, after its screening in Japan, the film will have a permanent exhibition at the Swiss Olympic Museum and will be shown at the next summer and winter Olympic Games.
