A new competitor will soon appear on the scene for the Amazon Fire TV Stick. Roku is launching its own streaming player on the German market this year.
- With Roku, the Amazon Fire TV Stick will have a new competitor in Germany this year.
- It is not known exactly when the devices will appear on the German market.
- The cheapest stick from Roku costs the equivalent of around 35 dollars.
Next to the Amazon Fire TV Stick and the Google Chromecast, there will soon be an alternative from the US company Roku.
So far, Roku devices are only available in a few countries, including the USA, Great Britain and Canada. This year Germany should also join the list. However, the manufacturer did not announce when exactly the time will come.
In contrast to the sticks from Google and Amazon, the one from Roku is based on an adapted version of Linux called Roku OS. With this you get access to apps like Disney+
Prices still unclear
Not much is known about the planned prices in Germany either. In Great Britain, the cheapest variant of the stick, Roku Express, costs the equivalent of around 35 dollars, which is slightly higher than the price of the Lite version from Amazon.
Whether Roku is really an alternative to the others on the German market TV-Sticks turns out remains to be seen.
