That didn’t surprise anyone: Take-Two put in very good financial results on the night, still powered by the indestructible Grand Theft Auto V of the future.
This often harmful species, commonly referred to as “investors”, is generally not satisfied with anything. In this unscrupulous universe, the flaws of which were widely portrayed in the famous rock star series, it always takes more than millions to be left alone. Unsurprisingly, Take-Two Interactive used the release of its results to talk about future releases and multiply the promises by the dozen.
The law of numbers
The East Coast publisher plans to release a whopping 62 games by the end of fiscal year 2024, June 30, 2024 document Unveiled in the night traces the main lines of the coming years, between clever recycling, mobile games and a pinch of indie to spice it all up.
23 “Immersive Core” games are therefore planned and see themselves as the main showcase for Take-Two, the list that cites the future iterations of NBA 2K, WWE 2K, the widely acclaimed Marvel’s Minight Suns, or the no less bizarre Kerbal Space Program 2 as examples. 6 independent games will also offer the AAA catalog, the OlliOlli World, some breathing space. Skateboarding game is currently the only representative of the category. 20 mobile games are also announced, none of which is mentioned here, but no one doubts the possibility of declining some home licenses as redemptions have increased in recent years up to the takeover of Playdots in summer 2020.
Take-Two also promises 4 “mid-core” games, the blurry category of which undoubtedly deserves clarification, especially since there is no example to get us on the way … Finally, and unsurprisingly, 9 “new iterations of previously released titles” are coming to get the group’s business done at a lower cost.
The sky is the limit
With this start of an inventory à la Prévert, Take-Two is hoping for record growth and wants to play on all fronts: In addition to the traditional model, which is undoubtedly close to the hearts of long-time players, the publisher is reaffirming its intention of free-to-play and subscription – Offering games, an activity that has already proven very profitable given the few examples above. In addition to striving to occupy an increasingly important place in the field of eSports and streaming, Take-Two, like so many others, is relying on the Chinese market to achieve its ambitious goals.
The only downside for the little gamers that we are: the promises obviously only bind those who believe in them, and the document obviously doesn’t fail to take some rigorous precautions regarding the impressive number of games announced. You never know what can happen these days:
These titles only give an overview of current developments. It is likely that some of these titles will not be completed or some will be delayed. Other unannounced tracks can also be added to the list.
