Apple’s new display software unveils a new Mac mini model.
We have known for some time that Apple is working on a new Mac mini which should arrive sometime in 2022. This new Mac mini could launch a new design that is more compact than the current one and includes the new generation of Apple Silicon processors. And it looks like Apple’s latest Studio Display firmware update references this unreleased model.
A few days ago, Mark Gurman reported that Apple was going to show off two new Mac models at its inaugural WWDC22 conference, in which we’ll also see software related news
Again software sneaks in from new hardware
Developer Steve Troughton-Smith revealed on Twitter that in iOS 15.4 for the Studio Display, found a reference to “Macmini10.1”. This model ID does not match any current Mac mini, so it is clearly a model still in development.
It’s unclear what new Macs are imminent; for what it’s worth, there’s a concrete clue: the Studio Display firmware references an unknown mysterious machine – a new generation of Mac mini models (“Macmini 10.1”). My opinion: M2, not M1 Pro

Rumors are a bit hazy as to which new Macs are imminent; For what it’s worth, there’s a concrete clue: the supplied Studio Display firmware references an unknown mysterious machine: a new generation of Mac mini models (“Macmini 10.1”). My opinion: M2, not M1 Pro
In principle, this new Mac mini should integrate the M2 chiplike the current generation, uses the M1 processor, and a recent leak assures that it will also feature the M2 Pro. While it’s true that having the Mac Studio makes less sense.
Just like the MacBook Air, the new Mac mini will completely change its design, as they currently use the legacy design of Intel-powered models. Apple is likely to upgrade the rest of the Mac line that uses the M1 chip to the M2, but in this case without changing the external design.
