Since 2013, Path of Exile has established itself as a serious alternative to the Diablo series – and it should stay that way. For this reason, there is now another replenishment in the form of a next expansion.
Grinding Gear Games has announced Sentinel, the next major add-on to the long-running action role-playing game Path of Exile. Of course you can expect a lot of fresh game content from this, but also some system and quality-of-life improvements.
The free-to-play action role-playing game has seen a major expansion roughly every year since its original release; there were also rather smaller expansions with new content and features to keep the game fresh.
The new add-on focuses on the eponymous Sentinels, ancient constructs that follow you and make your opponents stronger. This increases the risks for you, but at the same time increases the potential for rewards. Obliterated Sentinels can combine and reassemble into a new Sentinel; through this combination, new challenges await you, which should also provide variety.
Redesigning the Sentinels is done through purchasable recombiners; this new item can also be used to recombine equipment and generate fresh items. If you recombine two items of the same gear class, you will get a new item that combines the properties of both previous items.
The add-on removes the Bloodlines and Nemesis systems from the game; their modifiers will be incorporated into the revamped monster modification system. There are also over a dozen new passive Atlas Keystone Skills; others will follow at a later date.
For players in the endgame there are new variations of the extremely high difficulty “Uber” and corresponding boss fight variations. The controller support has left the beta stage and is now being officially introduced – including support for the DualShock 4. In addition, Path of Exile will also be fully playable on the Steam Deck. The add-on is rounded off by a long list of fixed bugs and various smaller features and optimizations.
Path of Exiles: Sentinels will be released on May 13th for PC and May 18th for PlayStation and Xbox.
