Plant saplings in clusters of bomb craters is one of the week 8 seasonal challenges in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2.
This Fortnite challenge takes you on a journey through the various bomb craters created by the battle between the IOs and the Seven with the goal of bringing some natural life back to those areas.
Completing this challenge will reward you with 20k XP, which will help you unlock more battle pass skins for this season.
Fortnite Sapling Location Explained
There are five different bomb crater clusters you can plant saplings on for these Fortnite challenges.
At the time of writing, however, young trees are do not spawning at the crater cluster near the Seven Outpost northwest of the Daily Bugle. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.
Remember that you only need to plant three saplings to complete this challenge and each cluster of bomb craters has three sapling hotspots. This means you can easily complete this challenge in one place – as long as the storm or another player doesn’t catch you first of course!
Cluster locations southwest of Greasy Grove
The cluster of bombs southwest of Greasy Grove, and directly east of nearby Outpost Seven, has three saplings located quite close together.
You will be able to find a sapling on the western edge of the cluster, one to the south, and finally one in the northeast corner.
Cluster locations southeast of Greasy Grove
Another cluster of bombs is southeast of Greasy Grove, near the nearby river.
Here the three saplings can be found around the rim of the central crater – one to the east, west and south.

You can also complete resistance challenges, including collecting signal jammers and finding an energy fluctuation. Don’t forget the seasonal challenges, which include planting saplings and calling in an airstrike on a tank. Meanwhile, the Victory Crowns and Character Collection are back, along with a new Victory Umbrella to earn.
North of The Daily Bugle cluster locations
The saplings of the cluster of bomb craters north of the Daily Bugle are arranged in a line nearly parallel to each other.
You’ll find one next to the highest crater, another just north of the house near a bush, and the last one at the southern rim of the southernmost crater.
Cluster locations west of The Joneses
The saplings in the cluster of bomb craters west of The Joneses are more expended than the locations above.
A sapling can be found near the small pond on the east side of the cluster.
A second sapling is located on the northwest side – near the path leading to the nearby temple.
The final sapling is located on the edge of the southwest crater.
