The new generation version (ray tracing, 4K, 3D audio…) of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7 got off to a bad start on PC. Capcom has therefore made the decision to remove it from Steam. Explanations.
Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7 were supposed to be improved by their next-gen version, but it was a disaster on PC. Fortunately, Capcom was able to react very quickly, but said goodbye to the promised technical innovations.
Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7 back to the beginning on PC
No problem for the new-gen version of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7 on consoles, but it’s a different story on PC. Several issues prevented players from playing it in good conditions or at all.
First, the entire minimum configuration was turned upside down. The games no longer accepted Windows before W10, although they basically only required Windows 7 and the specifics required were more extensive. DirectX11 was obsolete and DirectX12 was mandatory. And that was without counting the completely broken mods too. A disastrous start.
However, Capcom rectified the situation by exiting Steam users the ability to reinstall older versions of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7
Hello Resident Evil fans!
After a lot of feedback from the community, We’ve re-enabled the previous version, which includes no ray tracing and enhanced 3D audio. Both the updated version and the previous version will be available now.
