GTA 4: Heading for a remaster with other titles?
After Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, a remaster of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV seems to be in the pipeline. During a long interview with XFire, in which the user Matheusvictorbr mainly talks about the content of GTA VI, he also indicates that the studio plans to release a remaster of the fourth work. Like GTA III, it wouldn’t be on its own, but would be released as a bundle with two other games that would also benefit from the facelift.
If this rumor were to be confirmed by Rockstar in the future, it must be recognized that a port of this title to modern consoles would allow more people to know it: it was released in April 2008 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and it did doesn’t benefit from exporting to other consoles like its little brother. Still, we can legitimately understand that the studio is cautious. GTA 3 Definitive Edition, released last November, didn’t get the best reception.
GTA 4 Remaster: A rumor that is not new
Of course, this rumor should be treated with caution. Already last November, it was the Twitter user @RalphsValve who shared a photo of the logo of this so-called GTA 4 remaster, indicating that it is planned for 2023 and will be accompanied by its two expansions: The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. He would have received this information from an insider.
It is therefore natural to be wary of the words of Matheusvictorbr. It just repeats the information already distilled from RalphsValve, with no added value: no details or additional evidence. In any case, if such a project is actually in preparation at Rockstar and from the stronger slated for 2023, it’s clear we don’t need to get our hands on GTA 6 anytime soon.
