The Simpsons: Hit & Run in Unreal Engine 5 and with an open world? The hobby developer’s latest project Reuben Reubs
Ward could make the gaming dreams of many GameStar readers come true. As early as 2021, the YouTuber unveiled an impressive demo, which also caused great enthusiasm among you.
Now Reubs is back with an even more ambitious and exciting project, which should add online multiplayer and even a real open world to the GTA clone. But we’ll probably never be able to play Reub’s Simpsons remake. But it’s best to just take a look at the video for Ward’s latest prank:

The Simpsons Remake Dream
In 2021, Reuben Ward caused quite a stir in the gaming landscape. The YouTuber developed a playable demo for the first level of The Simpsons: Hit & Run, which brought the classic to Unreal Engine 5 to new life. The project was so impressive that it even garnered praise from the original’s developers, such as lead designer Joe McGinn.

However, the demo was not playable or available for long. After a short time, only videos of the new edition could be found because the project had problems with copyright regulations. Reubs himself probably isn’t too keen on getting in trouble with Disney’s lawyers, either.
So let’s get straight to the bad news: The hobby developer now wants to relaunch Hit & Run as a real open world game with online multiplayer in Unreal Engine 5, but will never make his fan remake available for public download. Whether that’s enough to keep Disney at bay remains to be seen.
Then why all the effort? Reubs states that he is working on the project primarily for entertainment purposes. At the same time, he can point to his skills as a developer, quest designer and dialogue editor with his Simpsons remake. The open world new edition of Hit & Run is not created completely unselfishly or without an ulterior motive. By the way, here is the video from last year:

Hope dies last: Maybe Reubs will help with his work that we might actually get an official remake of The Simpsons: Hit & Run. After all, the fans’ screams for a remake or at least a remaster were already loud under his video from 2021. Joe McGinn himself would also be happy, as he did in an interview with in 2020 LadBible stressed.
However, the legal situation is complicated. While Disney now owns the movie and TV rights to The Simpsons, the game license went to EA, bringing an originally planned sequel to its knees. It is difficult to determine what the current status is. Regardless, we too would welcome a reboot of The Simpsons: Hit & Run. More about this in the following video:
