We love the arcade on the iGamesNews. Associate Editor Alex Donaldson built an extension to his house so he could accommodate more people (well, that’s the purpose I think – he might have a different story). Then, Arcade Paradise, the upcoming nostalgic ride for arcade management and ’90s gaming, jumped on our radar.
If you find yourself fantasizing about the days of Mean Machines magazine, those knockoff Street Fighter 2 taxis, or After Burner spending 10p, you might want to check out the video below.
We’ve all seen our favorite arcades close in recent years, but who wouldn’t want to run one despite obvious financial pressures? You’ll fill it up with all the best games, make it a cool place, and generally have fun at the same time. Developer Nosebleed Interactive and publisher Wired Productions have teamed up to give us this opportunity – except, these aren’t shell arcades that only AI vis itors can play. In Arcade Paradise, there are 35 unique custom retro arcade games to enjoy.
In the video above, you can see the game in action and hear from the development team how this game was born. While the included arcade games are originals, you may find some clear homages to classic games.
We’ve already tried Arcade Paradise, and early impressions are that it does a good job of walking between busy sims and retro arcade love. You might be drawn to arcade games, but emptying the coin tray provides a pleasing sense of accomplishment.
Check out the video above and let us know what you think in the comments below. What arcade would you put in your arcade? I’m sure there will be a light gun shooting area, and a bunch of SEGA racing games.
Arcade Paradise will be released on August 11, 2022 on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The physical retail version of the Nintendo Switch will be released on August 25, 2022.
notes: iGamesNews contributor Jim Trinca worked with Nosebleed on the dev diary and provided them with the VO used in the game.
