This time, thanks to the interview carried out by the media game informantwe could see Takayuki Nakayama there Shuhei Matsumotodirector and producer of Street Fighter 6 respectively, tell us about the direction of their new project and what we can expect from it.
The interview took place during summer play days, the face-to-face event hosted by Geoff Kighley. Since Yoshinoro Onoinvolved with the series since Street Fighter III, stepping down as producer of the fifth season of Street Fighter V a few years ago, Matsumoto took the reins of Street Fighter 6 alongside Nakayama as director.
Find the essence of the saga
For both, the starting point was take the essence of Street Fighter II and adapt it to modern times. They also acknowledge the influence of final fightgiving street fighter 6 cabida with metropolitan city in the new World Tour mode. The urban tone on which it bases its design, with an artistic style based on graffiti and hip-hop culture for its soundtrack, passes through Matsumoto’s musical tastes and references to titles such as Street Fighter 1 and Street Fighter III. The two project leaders have therefore made the decision to take Street Fighter 6 on a path that can visually appeal to the general public.
The mode World Tour of Street Fighter 6 is also intended to be a link where more veteran players and newcomers can meet. Its design in story mode will allow us to enjoy the story of legendary characters like Ryu or Chun Li while familiarizing ourselves with the mechanics.
New modern control, which is not intended to be an easy mode, but rather another control system that other players can connect to better. In turn, the new movement-based mechanics Conduct and new characters like Jamie are some of the new ideas that Nakayama wanted to implement. Since many of these new mechanics and fighting styles had no place in Street Fighter V.
learn from the past
Without a doubt, one of the most interesting parts of the interview was Nakayama and Matsumoto’s look at the past to not repeat the mistakes of Street Fighter V when it launched. The main change to reverse this situation was to improve communication with fans.. Of course, the communication during these weeks of Street Fighter 6 has been excellent, with dozens of videos and explanations of all the news seen during the trailers and the fights seen throughout these weeks.
