According to the color specialists from Pantone, “Very Peri” is the color of the year 2022. The reddish-violet shade of blue reflects the change that society is currently experiencing after the years of hardship caused by Corona and shows us a lively, happy view of the world the company its choice.

Mo torola is also aiming for a change. The manufacturer, which now belongs to Lenovo, wants to play a stronger role in the European mobile phone market again. Among other things, the new Edge30 Neo should help. The small hand flatterer was designed in cooperation with Pantone and is available in the color of the year as well as three other exclusive Pantone colors.

The manufacturer has also adapted the surface of the factory-installed Android 12 to the case color. Widgets, background and system icons also shine in “Very Pery” or the respective case color.

The only blemish: Accessories such as the power supply unit or USB cable, on the other hand, come in classic black. But that will change in the future, promises Fabio Capocchi, Motorola’s General Manager for Europe, in an interview with Netzwelt.

The Edge30 Neo not only looks good, it also feels good. This is partly due to the form factor. As we have already pointed out, the cell phone is much handier and lighter than many of its competitors, measuring 152.9 x 71.2 x 7.75 millimeters and weighing 165 grams. But the workmanship is also top: the housing is mostly made of plastic. However, the matted back feels valuable. It also changes color when exposed to light. Simply chic! Wrapping that phone in a protective case would be a crime.

The price is also attractive compared to the features. The manufacturer in Germany calls for 399.99 dollars for this. In return, you get a 6.28-inch pOLED display that reproduces images at 120 Hertz. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 acts as the drive. The 5G-capable chip also drives the Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro, which is only sorted in the midfield of mid-range cell phones in terms of performance. The popular Samsung Galaxy A53 does not offer more computing power either.

On the back you will find a dual camera for photo and video recordings, consisting of a stabilized 64-megapixel optical sensor and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide angle. An optical image stabilizer is by no means standard in this price range. If the camera comes close to the image quality of its big sister model, the Edge30 Ultra, that would be another plus point. A nice gimmick too: an LED strip on the camera notifies you of incoming notifications when the cell phone is lying on the table with the display on.

Also special for a 400 euro cell phone: The Edge30 Neo supports wireless charging. You will receive the right charging station free of charge at the market launch in the form of the Lenovo Smart Clock 2.0 with wireless charger.

The Motorola Edge30 Neo is scheduled to go on sale in September. The recommended retail price in Germany is EUR 399.99.

On paper, for the price quoted, you get a properly equipped mid-range cell phone with a few extras. Anyone looking for a small smartphone should therefore have the new Motorola on their list.
